Up until a few years ago bible
studies was not so popular amongst the younger generation in the United States,
but things have now taken a dramatic turn and more and more young people are
responding to the call of their faith.
This is why a number of bible
colleges have come up and are providing biblical educations to those seeking
it. This trend has in fact gained so much strength that now colleges who were
previously only offering main stream degree courses are now offering in-depth biblical
study courses on-campus as well as online.
Degree programs in online Bible studies are
available at different levels. Students can opt for undergraduate and graduate courses in
theology, Bible, ministry and education. These programs can serve to either
earn you a degree that will lead you on to serving the church and its people,
or you can simply develop a deeper faith by understanding the real meaning of the
word of God. However, with the extensive study course and field trips which
make up the core of Bible study courses, most students eventually end up in
ministerial positions in churches around the world.
The
real purpose of these Bible study courses online though is to familiarize
students with the Bible in a way that it improves your daily life and gives you
insight on how to effectively implement the word of God in it. Some of the
degree courses offered online in Biblical studies are: Associate in biblical
studies, Bachelors in Biblical Studies, Masters and Doctorate in biblical
studies. There is also the Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Divinity. These programs can either be pursued as major
certificate courses or taken up as specializations in degree programs.
When
these courses are taken up as degree programs, additional work is required on
an undergraduate level for it to qualify for a course on graduate level. Most
online schools allow students to substitute courses or combine specialized into
their main syllabus when pursuing an online Bible degree program. You need to
discuss this with your department head or the Dean. Keep in mind that those
pursuing a Masters or Doctorate degree in Biblical studies earn about 30 credit
points for each specific course they take, while the remaining 10 credits are
earned by the practical ministry work they are supposed to carry out in real
life. This also helps them earn, what’s known as the “Practica” credits.
