Christian Studies info

Online Christian studies also known as online Biblical studies are designed to enlighten students with knowledge and understanding of the Bible, its systematic theology, its historical context with reference to present day interpretation and strategies.

Usually students who are interested in serving the church take up these degree courses and get to work as pastors in their communities, church workers, or missionaries spreading the word of God all over the world. But sometimes people who are just looking for a deeper understanding of the Bible and the Christian values it imparts also take you online Christian studies.

Class Curriculum

If you are thinking about pursuing a Masters degree in online Christian studies here is a brief introduction to what you should expect. The curriculum of masters in Christian studies is a wide array of various biblical studies, such as biblical studies, systematic theology, historical theology, spiritual life and evangelism, and electives. These are focused programs which deal with preparing students for a future in the church. Almost all biblical study programs have Biblical Hebrew and Koine Greek in them since these are the original languages of scripture. Although each program has its own set of courses but some courses are shared by all of them such as:

·         Old and New Testament Surveys. These are basically two separate courses but both are taught in unison. These courses introduce students to the core structure of the Bible and its tow books, the old and the New Testament. Here they are introduced to all the major characters from both the books, the creation story, the Hebrew laws and all the prophets sent. In-depth knowledge of the Gospels, the life of Jesus, history of the early church, the epistles, and prophecy made in the New Testament are also a major part of these courses. .
  • Hermeneutics. This course is all about the interpretation of the bible as appropriately as possible. Students are encouraged to examine the original Greek and Hebrew text so as to get a feel of these ancient scriptures in their historical and cultural contexts.
·         History of Doctrine. This course is all about examining the role of the church since its inception, its evolution over the years, its Biblical and theological roots, and whether it has remained true to its origins or has it changed with the passage of time. Some of the most prominent theologians are introduced, studied and discussed in this course.

Apart from these, students have a load of assignments and research papers to prepare for in their master’s program. The language courses they take in Greek and Hebrew require translations of specific sections of texts so as to demonstrate their grasp of the languages for the successful completion of their degree program. As part of their thesis, students are required to submit conflicting perspectives on the theological aspects of scripture, presenting the strength and weakness of both arguments and providing scriptural support to which one they most strongly believe in.
